Wonderful days
It's a sultry evening, a cool breeze brushes up our hair and the gentle sound of waves breaking fills the air.
After a long trip across the Ionian sea we finally arrived in Poros, a small lovely village with a nice boulevard, great places to eat and a small playground for FIlise. In the harbour there's very good drinking water, from the lake up in the mountains, and a lovely atmosphere with fellow sailors enthousiastically boasting about their adventures. It was everything we needed. And a few perfect days followed, until we had to leave once more, because our second trip - with a dear friend visitor - was due. Another great prospective as the plan was to sail through the Corinth canal, to Athens.
Crossing the Corinth canal is a special experience.
With our friend visiting we knew beforehand it would become another great trip. After having friends over before, with their two kids, from France to Italy, we were very much looking forward to our upcoming trip.
Nothing beats having dinner together.
With visitors aboard the vibe turns 'Holiday' immediately. No more boat maintenance for a while, less chores and more time together. It is in the end why we're doing all this. With our new crew we set out a plan for the duration of the trip and make sure we tick all the boxes. Beach life, good food, maybe some culture and, naturally, visiting lovely places. Oh yes, and setting sail now and then.
Here comes dinner.
And we were not alone enjoying every minute that our friends joined us aboard.
Showing the ropes to our new crew members.
During our trip to Athens we had some good fortune on the weather front. Good sailing weather in convenient directions allowed us to test all sails in spicy conditions. We learned with the right conditions our boat can do 9 knots fairly easy. A great feeling!
Aeolus was generous to us, but not always in the right direction ¯\ (ツ) /¯.
The wind brought us to beautiful places such as the beautiful harbour of bonifacio, the ancient sunken city of Epidaurus and Cape Drastis, which, after having seen it, we immediately renamed 'Cape Drastic'.
Island hopping in Greece.
One crossing we were lucky to catch a fish. Our very first catch ever. And what a fish it was! We caught a 82cm yellow fin tuna! After realising what a beautiful creature this animal is, Jaclyn went ahead and fileted it with utmost respect. After 30 minutes we had almost 6 kilo of absolutely amazing tasting Tuna piling out of our little freezer.
We caught a tuna!
Another day at the office.
With an endless sashimi melting on our tongue, we watch the bright red sun slowly disappear behind the horizon as we listen to the waves breaking. Wonderful days.
The mediterranean sea at its best.
On to our next adventure.
