Farewell

What a day! What a week! What a month!

One's never really prepared to say goodbye to these amounts of loving and caring people. We're completely overwhelmed by all the involvement from our friends, family and acquaintances. Thank you all for making our farewell weekender a thing to never forget. Thanks for all the kind words, the lovely presents and generous donations.

It is at these moments one starts to doubt their choices, decisions that are behind them and the mindset that brought them where they are now in the first place. But you all ensured us this plan of ours is a good plan, the right thing to do, at the right time. And now that we're back on the boat for the third day, we're starting to believe in it too, again.

talk Drowning out emotions with way too many words and wine. :-D

With the ambition to pack our entire house in the trunk of our convertible we realised we can't bring everything we want to France, where the boat is. So we came to terms with the fact that a lot of things will stay behind. Until two of our closest friends, who decided to visit us on a sailing trip from France to Italy, informed us they have a lot of excess car space when they drive to the harbour where we'll meet! So once more we changed the layout of our fictious trunk-space in our study and decided we could even visit the supermarket for some more typical dutch foodstuffs.

trunk Fortunately Martijn has played many hours of Tetris!.

After the warming farewell drinks (and bites) we finished packing the car, emptying the house and preparing the trip in the days that followed. And after two days of driving we were able to unpack everything on our little home on the water.
