Survey day!

After a tumultuous search for an Amel sailboat we finally got in the position to wire a deposit and make arrangements to survey a very good prospect sailboat.

She's a 1993 Amel Santorin, ketch rigged monohull. Today we went aboard "Elysis" for an inspection of the hull at the shipyard and a afternoon sailing trip at sea, from port Cap d'Agde, where her current berth is. We were lucky. It was a beautiful, sunny day with a light breeze. Perfect for testing of all the sails, the engine and everything else on board. We got on board with the surveyor, broker and our agent and off we went.

The very first moments on our Santorin Ketch.

During the trip it slowly descended upon us. This is the perfect boat for the three of us and we're going to buy it in order to live aboard the coming year(s). A simultaneously discomforting and very satisfying feeling. But without any doubt a very invigorating awareness to experience gaining. After everything was tried, tested and operated we returned the boat to the harbour and said goodbye to everyone. We walked back to our apartment along the long and flashy boulevard of Cap d'Agde's marina. It still hadn't fully seeped through we were about to change the course of our lives drastically, but intuitively we felt it was good. Everything was good. And we kept walking for a bit more.
