We have a plan.
After dozens of years sailing chartered boats we decided the time is right to care for our own sailboat.
With our daughter turning one this year, the clock is ticking louder and louder. If we want to realise our dream of sailing for longer periods we know very well we need to make some hefty decisions. So we do. And it could not turn out any better for us. With both of us suddenly having amazing opportunities to make the needed adjustments and arrangements work-wise, there suddenly is no way back anymore. We're moving onto a sailboat!
A sailing weekend on "Het IJsselmeer"
And with that stroke of destiny we cautiously have started planning. First slowly, just fantasizing a bit about all the possibilities ahead of us, and then faster and faster, making hundreds of decisions varying from the type of boat, where to purchase it, where to go with it, stuff we need, when to go and how to make everything possible in the first place.
During one-and-a-half-years of research we decided we wanted an Amel sailboat somewhere around 2022-2023. And as the stars kept aligning above us over the past year, more or less as planned, we found one in France which fits our plans perfectly, is available, affordable and, last but not least, in a very good shape.
We're absolutely being incredibly lucky.
